Memorable 4th of July flight
It may seem odd, but one of the things I enjoy about flying is the "perspective" I have in flight - sometimes an escape, sometimes an opportunity to rest or read, and always a chance to see a new part of the country or world.
I was reminded last night of a flight I took eight years ago ORD-DEN late on the 4th of July. As the plane flew across the heartland of America, each community's fireworks display began to erupt. The view of the country's celebration and the perspective of seeing the commonality that we all share as we could see many celebrations simultaneously made it truly a memorable flight for me.

I remember a similar flight a few years back flying in over Palm Springs to LA. All fireworks the entire way and the Captain flew out over the ocen to land from the water side of LAX and all along the shore line there were fireworks - a great memory to this day.

Tedeman and Randy--I had a similar flight last year on the 4th. We were leaving from PHL to LHR, on our way to MAD. Plane took off at about 9:15 from PHL, saw many towns' fireworks in suburban Philly, out across New Jersey, and then along Long Island as we headed out across the North Atlantic. It made for a great flight.
