I use the Olympus Camedia D-360L. It's nice enough, cheap, but my model didn't come with a zoom which would have come in handy in a couple of places.

Before considering buying a Microdrive consider a. it's a mechanical device and subject to failure and loss of its contents the same as any other hard drive b. it takes more power than FC's c. FC's cost about the same per megabyte these days as the microdrive (not exactly, but relatively close). d. If you buy a few 128MB FC's you don't have all your eggs in one basket.

The D360L has a 2x digital zoom, I know it's not as good as optical, but better then nothing. (Press the flower/tree button twice, then the plus button to set it) That is what I use, and I love it.

I think the paranoma feature on it is incredible.

Bought my Canon Digital IXUS today. Is it true that the new IXUS v has no optical zoom anymore?

Also had a look IXUS 300. Too large...

JohnAX, thanks for the MD information. I just got my Canon G1 and was contemplating purchasing a 1Gig, but thought it wiser to purchase a 128MB CF and another 1Gig. This way when the MD fails I have the CF as a reliable backup. But after reading your post, perhaps the wisest thing to do would be to get 4 or 5 pieces of 128-256MB CF.

For those interested, this is the best forum for Canon digital camera enthusiasts. I visit it everyday!

I've had a Canon PowerShot S10 for about a year and a half. It is 2.1 MegaPixel and takes good shots. I have a pair of 64 megabyte CF cards and a couple of 16mb also. It has worked well for me on all my trips.
