Help getting from Phoenix to Brainerd Minnesota
Can any one help me find an affordable fare from Phoenix, to Brainerd Minnesota toward the end of August.
I booked a fare with Northwest, and when I got the ticket, they had added another $80.00 after quoting a fare $80.00 less on the phone. I am on Social Security and cannot afford $785.00 for my wife and I to make this trip.
Please help. Thank You

There are a lot of "zone fare" coupons on Northwest circulating around. Depending on the taxes the fare for your itinerary, traveling in August, would be somewhere around $380-390. In September it would be even less. Check the Coupon Connection forum - people are often looking to trade these or even give them away.
You say you are on Social Security. Does that mean you are over 62? If so, you could buy a senior coupon book for around $700 that entitles you to two roundtrips per year. A good deal in your case only if you plan to make a second trip.

Since you are pretty much stuck with NW, given the Brainerd destination, you might want to try posting this in the Northwest section of this board as well.
I assume you have a reason not to fly to MSP and drive the rest of the way...? Much more competition in airfares that way.

Also check fares from Tucson ( sometimes the weirdest things happen - a flight will go Tucson-Phoenix-XXX and be cheaper than Phoenix-XXX) and if you dont mind LAX ( you can pick up a $60 round trip to LAX on Southwest or HP when they have their sales)

Need some help also out of PHX: PHX-CVG or PHX-CMH or PHX-IND
Posting for a friend though I know FlightFox is even more appropriate arena.
- <=$400 r-t a.i.
- disprefer WN (Southwest) though they're direct on most of those
- depart Oct 24 (preferable) or 25
- return Oct 27 or 28 (preferable)
- not working so no time-of-day limitations

You know, with great respect, this is not a travel agency, and I don't know how the idea took root that FTers will perform TA services for free.
And I believe there's an informal rule against resurrecting threads more than a couple of years old. This one is 12 years old. Good for Scotch, bad for airline information.

Per FT Guidelines and Rules:
As for most recent query, based on the info provided, perhaps your friend could utilise one of the many online booking engines (like Kayak, Expedia)? Or perhaps a crash course in ITA would be helpful.

Unless there is a compelling reason, avoid bumping threads that are more than two years old. Often the information is out-dated and it clogs the forums, making it difficult to find current threads.
