Television

Well, I am supposed to get me new Satellite System from Dish put in today. I noticed that two of the channels I'm getting are the Travel Channel and Discovery Wings. I know these are both Aviation related, but does anyone in here currently get one of these channels, and are they good ?

Welcome, swordfish...

I've recently started receiving the Travel Channel...

From what I've seen, it's not related to aviation very much...Seems to be more of a Discovery/Learning Channel with focus on places and cultures.

A lot of fluff...Nothing too special...But I don't really watch too much TV and haven't seen a lot of the channel.

**Not that I care, but many would suggest that this topic is more suited for OMNI**

Swordfish005,

I love the Travel Channel! I am planning a fall trip to Paris and they did a one-hour show on the top 10 must-sees there. Even though I have been to Paris before, it was still informative and entertaining. ANother seried they feature is called "Secrets" which shows behind-the-scenes stuff for variouse locales.

I love the Travel Channel!

The "Secrets of Las Vegas" was one of my all-time favorites.

As for DSCW, I think that's the channel that "Airport" is on. It's a BBC show, documentary, I kinda like it. It shows the adventures of different airport/airline personnel at LHR (I think). I hear there is a show called "Airline" that follows the startup of EasyJet, and I"m pretty sure that's on DSCW too. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Discovery Wings is all related to air flight (airplances, space, baloons, etc). It has some great programs for the aviation fanatic.

If you have DIRECTV, which doesn't get "Discovery Wings", "Airport" is on every few weeks on BBC America.
