SOMETIMES NOT ACCUMULATING MILES IS BETTER!

We all love racking up miles or we wouldn't be here:
But I don't want extra miles on my leased vehicle..last year
I had to pay $3500 in overage on my car...my territory had changed to all of AZ. and I racked up an extra 50k @ .12/mile.
Now I just drive to the airport and park-- sometimes I fly to save auto miles..take a train or have a friend drop me off...heck I have even rented a car in my hometown to void excesssive miles on the old odometer.
So sometimes NO miles are good.
What do you do NOT to earn miles?

"What do you do NOT to earn miles?"

MRKEY, I am not trying to be a smart-a** here but have you considered buying instead of leasing?

RKG..at the time, I had no choice as my company was paying for my lease...in 10 months the lease is up and I will be buying it!

I agree with you, Mrkey,

Last year I flew ATA RT from PHX to HNL for $198 using Apple Vacation's last minute fares: www.applevacations.com

The big boys wanted $1,300 for travel via LAX. So I flew ATA, and believe it or not, tvl4free ACTUALLY flew nonstop.

So as you stated, 'Sometimes NO miles ARE good.'

But, rest assured, that sometimes I have to think about it - very long and hard!

Perhaps, if the lease permits it, it would be better to simply purchase the vehicle!

I just hate those kind of "fees!"

You might double check your lease agreement. When I've leased cars if you buy the car at the end of the lease, as you say you plan to do, there was no excess mileage fee. All they cared about was that I paid the residual agreed to in the original contract. The mileage fee only applied if I returned the car.

You can often renegotiate your residual too if the car's value is less than that.
