Is British this crazy?
I hope this is the correct board but I tried to use my miles on British for 2 free domestic tickets for my sons and they said only the FF account holder can use the miles! I never heard of an airline that didn't let you give your tickets to a member of the immediate family. Could I possibly have misunderstood or are they really that difficult?

I'd call up again and speak to a different agent. If there is such a sticky condition, you might be able to get around it by setting up accounts for your son at your address (if they are not living with you) and pool your miles with them using the household accounts feature.

I assume you are asking about British Airways. I have a UK-based account, from the days when I lived in Europe. I have booked several intra-European flights for my husband with no problems.
Many things differ between the US and the UK program. It seems nonsensical, though, if the US program does not allow family award travel.

MaryS,
If you are the account holder, you can claim a US Domestic award for anyone you choose. You do not need to fly with them either. The only restriction is they will mail the award to you and you must pass it on.
