Aisle. I'm tall, and all my height is in my legs. Also, I don't have an iron bladder so I'm one of those people who do need to get up once or twice each flight.
The rest of the flight,I'm sound asleep and don't notice if people climb over me. Luckily, most of my long haul international flights are on business so I'm in Business class and it doesn't really matter since I try to get the centre section where both seats are on the aisle and then I sleep until we land. It is a true blessing http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif to sleep every flight I get on. I just can't seem to stay awake even if I try http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ------------------ I wish I were 1,000 miles away |
Always window. Looking out, enjoying the view etc is, after making long distances short, the most important thing flying has brought us. Often I stare outside for hours... Never bored or tired of it.
As far as disturbing people when getting out of a window seat, I get out stepping on the armrests, agile and small framed as I am http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif My fellow passengers never have to move an inch, whether sleeping, resting or even having their tray down. |
Window for flights that are not crowded. Otherwise, aisle.

I am generally a coach flyer and prefer an aisle seat. If my row is empty i will usually slide over to the window seat, put the arm rests up and stretch out.

I always go for the aisle seats. I feel trapped at the window seat and I like to get up and walk around, especially on long flights.

When Kwaj guy and I travel together, it's anything in an exit row if we have to travel coach, or opposite aisles as or second choice. In first, we prefer bulkhead center on a widebody (so we both get aisles, and no one reclines back into us) or bulkhead window/aisle on either side of the plane.

IN FC: Window
IN COACH: Aisle REASON: I would rather sit on the Aisle in Coach than squeeze through 2-5 people to get to where I need to go. In FC, however, I love plane-watching. |
Always aisle (Coach or FC) due to pit-stops and nerves.

Originally posted by COboy: Always aisle (Coach or FC) due to pit-stops and nerves. FC: window I'd agree that aisle is best for ease of making pit-stops. This seems to be a common reason for many folks. Any tips on better bladder management techniques? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif I'd rather not dehydrate before or during the flight, but getting up all of the time can be pretty annoying for myself and others. More salt? Hypnosis? |
All my life I've dreamed of being a world traveller. Now that I am finally flying to different parts of the world (in coach on the cheapest fare I can find!) I am not going to complain about the seat. Although, most often I am given an isle or window seat, I'll take the middle if it'll get me there!

Like many, my preferences depend on length of flight, class of service, and how rushed I am when I get to my destination.
If in coach, my preference is for aisle in the bulkhead row (usually end up on DL small planes e.g. 727, MD-88, MD-90, etc.). If in FC/Biz and if the flight is short (under 3 hours), I prefer aisle. If the flight is longer (more than 5 hours), I prefer window. On DL BE, I prefer window. If I am travelling outbound to an event, I almost always want an aisle. If it is right after a major event that I am refereeing, and know I am going to be really tired, I want a window. Glad I can choose my own seats on-line! |
Middle!!! They are almost always empty. Who needs books when you get to read over shoulders to your left and right. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/tongue.gif

For short flights around Europe, I prefer an aisle seat foward in the cabin to get off the plane faster. Long-haul preference is definitely window seat (upper deck if it is a 744). Of course, my absolutely favorite seat is just behind the pilot during take-off and landing (is there anything called a Nose Seat?!).

AISLE
Have been pinned too many times to the window by large over perfumed women!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif No need to say more given the overweigh stats in this great nation! |
