Aisle. I hate to disturb my seatmate when I need to "stretch my legs".

Aisle every time possible. The only exception is where I am lucky enough for the window seat to be empty; then I will often sit in it for takeoff and landing.

This may seem childish, but it depends on the route for me. If I know that I will be descending through beautiful scenery I might want a window so i can catch a birdseye view. Also, on short flights I prefer the window and also on night flights.

Here are some examples of places that when flying into I would want a window seat:

HKG PMO
HNL LIH
GVA KOA
FCO SFO and any place that I have never been to before !!!!

I always go for an Aisle seat, though on Virgin I go for one of the seats in the middle of the cabin as it is configure 2-2-2 in Premium Economy, so the Toliet issue doesn't really matter as ther is an aisle either side of the 2 seats in the middle. Also applies to Upper Class, though I'm usually sat at the bar :0)

Aisle always Aisle. I like to be able to get out without having someone else in my way.

aisle!

then again, like someone posted earlier, if i have an empty group of seats, i will sit in the middle for the fun parts. i don't sit in the window ever, ever, ever.

Window if under 2 hours, aisle when over that. I like to move about, and hate disturbing others.

dallasnewsman Feb 19, 2001 6:23 am

Aisle. I don't want to be the one to see fire shooting out of the engine or the wing start to come loose from the fuselage. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Generally, I prefer aisle seats so as not to disturb others when getting up. However, there have been plenty of times when I was very glad to have had a window seat as it afforded me some spectacular views.

Aisle seat in back of bus. Anywhere in FC.

I like middle seats, especially in the back of a UA 747. You get to make more friends that way, and ecomony class is pretty luxurious regardless of where you sit. The only thing I miss is the variety of cigarette flavors you could taste in the air in the good old days.

well it all depends on a number of factors...

if the plane is not full and is shorthaul (up to 4h) i go for window and have the seat(s) next to me blocked

but if it is full i go for isle...

on longhaul i go for exit row isle if travelling alone, window if travellin with a friend

cheers jetboy

Popular topic.

I have gone for the aisle seats for several years because (1) it affords more room (in coach) to get the computer out and work and (2) if I need to get up, I don't have to disturb anyone (and I can glare at those who disturb me! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif ).

However, it seems as if Continental's auto upgrade completely ignores preferences and I've been in window seats quite often lately. I had forgotten how nice it is to look out the window, especially when the work is done and I've finished the magazines I brought on board!

All this has made me wonder why I pick aisle all the time ... originally it was so I can get up without having to go over someone, AND have a better chance of making tight connections (FemaleFlyer is right, I too have noticed that EUA seems to ignore preferences and I was window last week, the flight was delayed and when we landed, my connection was already boarding ... the people in the middle and aisle of my row commented that they were in no hurry and would wait until EVERYONE got off until I explained that I HAD to get off, that's the main reason I pick aisle ....), but after reading all of this, I remember how nervous it makes me too, to have people rooting in the overhead bins right above me. And some of them don't even close the door, leaving things free to fall out! Also, I HATE how people lean on and push my seat as they go by down the aisle and, when the FA (or someone else) needs to get by someone standing in the aisle, that someone may shove their way into my space to make room, acting like I am invisible so, I think I will switch to window. Good topic, I would not have stopped to think of this otherwise. Thanks!

**** as an update, 2/26/01 ***** After writing this, I flew Spirit Airlines LGA-DTW. I had a great time in the window seat! The flight took off about 5 pm as dusk was starting to set in. It had snowed that day so the view was beautiful, especially flying west into the sunset. Now all you window-preferrers will have one more person to compete with for your seat. Thanks for the idea!
