Hong Kong Suits

I'm about to make my first trip to Hong Kong. And I've heard that custom-made suits are one of the last bargains available in Hong Kong. Right now, I'm leaning towards Sam's Tailors...pricey, but "tailor to the stars". Is he worth it? He said about $350 u.s.d. for a nice suit.

That's cheap by U.S. standards. But, by HK standards, is that reasonable?

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

The following link is from my report. I can't comment on Suits, since I don't wear them . That being said, with current prices in HK, the $350 sounds too low. That is probably a lowball figure for material of a quality that is not great.

I prefer off the rack suits, but almost all of my friends in HK get their suits from Maxwell's.

Thanx for the info, Vulcan and moondog! I don't usually wear suits either. But I've gained a lot of weight since I bought my last one. And I need one suit that fits!

When I called, I explained that didn't want a lowball price, that I wanted a price using good material. But, I'm sure that's no guarantee that I got one!

Having no idea what HK suits cost, what should I expect to pay for a decent suit using good quality material?

$250-$300 will get you a really nice suit if you have good connections (go with a local that you trust). Otherwise, figure $400 to $600.

Thanks, moondog! I might check out your recommendation (Maxwell's).
