If you want a quick hop for skiing, just head up to Grouse. It's one of the ski hills overlooking North Van. You can ski in the morning, then head back downtown in the afternoon...
As for T&T's wedding, yes, it is great fun, but it has also been everywhere. Improvivor is a Vancouver creation that has not been seen anywhere else.

If you don't have time for sking, but want to go for a "drop dead beautiful" ride, drive to Squamish, which is on the way to Whistler. Great downtown shopping area, breathtaking view and drive along the water.
