johna

I know this is not "on topic" but I thought some of you would want to know. My good friend, and a regular contributor to this bulletin board, "johna" passed away this weekend. He had steered me to the BB and had often said that he really enjoyed reading and contributing to it. I know that he had even met some of you in person - so I thought I would let you know. As you probably knew, John had AIDS, and had fought the good fight for 10 years. The end was mercifully quick. One of his biggest thrills was flying on the Concorde with FF miles and even getting to go into the cockpit - he's really flying now!!!

This is very sad. My condolences to all his family and friends, which include a lot of people who read this board.

I met John when we worked together 13 years ago and knew when he contracted AIDS. He really enjoyed life to the fullest since he stopped working. At times I envied him, but obviously his situation was more bad than good. He and I exchanged e-mails recently. He did not seem to know that the end was near. I will miss him.

My condolences to John's friends and family. I was a grateful recipient of his travel advice and enjoyed the excitement in his trip reports which he shared with this board. He will be missed.

I am truly saddened by John's passing. I only met him one time, on a brief tour of the new international terminal at SFO. But a wonderful gentleman was he.

My prayers are with him.

I never met John, not for lack of trying, but was a recipient of some of is Concorde memorabilia. I felt greatly honored to this selfless act.

You don't have to have met someone to mourn their loss.
