I'll have 1&1/2 days to myself in Copenhagen around January 8th. Please help with good restaurants &/or must see/do's. THX!

Ah! I was in copehnagen earlier this year for a few days. I stayed at 71 Nyhavn - very interesting 200 year old warehouse on the docks converted into a hotel. Fun location. The entire "dock" - nyhavn is a row of restaurants, bars, etc. Check it out.
There is also a main shopping street - but its just the same stuff anywhere else in the world.
We saw a ballet at the opera house - excellent. We were able to buy earlier that afternoon tickets in the 4 or 5th row near the middle. Fantastic!!
There is a large museum there (name eludes me at the moment) with a nice selection of modern art to medieval art.
The little mermaid wasn't as exciting as I had hoped - and its a serious trek (well, i assume you could just take a cab)
We also took a boat tour - starts right at nyhavn and is worthwhile.

Make time to walk through Tivoli Gardens, if it is still open. Nyhavn is great both in the day and evening--especially the night time. Changing of the guard at the Queen's residence is way below London's show.

For me, the best restaurants in CPH offer fantastic value for lunch 1-2.30 pm. during the week, usually closed at weekends.
Try Kong Hans or Pierre Andr with their set 3-4 nning menus running USD 30-40 tax and svc. included, but ex. wine.

More sugestions:
Check the web for guided tours. That may give you a diverse impression of COpenhagen.
If you want to be on your own visit
Rosenborg Castle with the Crown Jewels.
In Roskilde, 1/2 hour by Train, you have Roskilde Cathedral where the kings & queens are burried.
In Roskilde you can also see Viking Ships.
Tivoli will be closed in January.
Note that the VAT in Denmark is High (25%) However, look for "Tax-Free" shopping sign in stores, and you can get 18-20% back when you leave Denmark for a country outside the EU. Have the receipt stamped as exported by customs at the CPH airport before going into the transit hall. In the transithall they have an office in which you can get most of the VAT you paid back.
When I was in DK a month ago, I visited Royal COpenhagen's store in the Transit Hall.
Placed my order for pick up on my return to the USA. All ites were giftwrapped and ready as X-max gifts Remember that purchases in the Transithall is w/o VAT.
