Cabin Baggage
I have to purchase a new roller style carry on and I am asking for your recommendations of which barnd to purchase based on a combination of price, quality and functionality.

I like the classic Samsonite. They are not too heavy to carry up stairs, have a classic design in all kinds of sizes and shapes and overall offer a good value for money. They also survive being checked in from time to time if you need to. The cheap ones don't last very long. Another advantage is that you may be able to get free repair at their stores or a warrantee for rolls etc.

for many years,i have been using the same black TUMI roller that i won't travel without, i could carry it on, or check it... very expandable, and durable... a bit on the costly side, but well worth it, IMHO... 
(and i believe TUMI has lifetime warranty on their products)

I like my TravelPro, it's the first and only one that I've used.
I didn't look inside the new "Consumer Reports" for this month, but I saw that they did a rating on luggage this month. You might want to check it out.
