U2 at CDG

I'm quite caught up in U2's latest album, "All That You Can't Leave Behind." But what's that have to do with FT?

Well, the video from the album's first single, "Beautiful Day," was filmed on a runway and in the terminal at CDG. Also, I believe all the pictures in liner notes are from CDG, as well.

Anyway, take a look at the making of the video if you can. It's wild. They apparently were out on the runway playing as planes were taking off and landing right over them. The French authorities seem to be far more accommodating than I imagine Americans would be, letting them do that.

Here's a link to a story:

Then click on the link in the "Video" box.

They're always having fun at airports and on planes. The controversy rages on about what the "J33-3" on the airport sign means, that's featured on the cover of ATYCLB (but I'll leave that debate off FT). I've seen countless photos over the years of them fooling around with baggage carts and the like. And there's a bootleg of a few songs Bono recorded on a plane once (R&H tour?).

And speaking of the R&H tour, motnot, being in Tempe, any chance you were at Sun Devil Stadium for the R&H video shoot?

Unfortunately, I was about 10 years late in moving here. But, man, that performance of "Sunday" might be their best ever!

There's also similar making-of video clip at U2.com that has some additional footage from the shoot at CDG.

I think I was in Terminal 2F when they were shooting some of the interior shots (without U2, but with some of the extras). I was waiting for a delayed flight to Manchester, while this video crew was shooting.

I had no idea what it was for, I just assumed some French TV show.

You know, I honestly meant to post something about the new U2 single being filmed in CDG (I didn't know it was CDG, but my roommate did) when I first saw it in september. Oh well!

On a separate note, the new album, All That... is a very good rock album.

I shall end here before I turn this into an OMNI type thread

"I shall end here before I turn this into an OMNI type thread."

Sorry chexfan, you're a bit too late!

Also, U2 took to the rooftops again on Oct. 30. The Irish band decided to preview 3 tunes from the new album, "All That You Can't Leave Behind, from a 6th floor balcony at MTV's headquarters at 1515 Broadway, right in the middle of Times Square. The band kicked off with "Elevation," segued into "Beautiful Day," followed by the band's paean to the Big Apple, "New York." Just in case fans did not get the joke, when the performance aired on Tuesday's TRL, the band turned in a second version of "Elevation."

Connection to flying/travel - ABSOLUTELY NONE!

Yes, I take responsibility for starting this in the wrong forum. I realized that after I submitted it. But the fact that I was thinking about CDG and the planes in the video (including one that takes off right over them) clouded my judgment.

I've moved this thread to Omni, even though opus17's post almost legitimized this as General TravelTalk. Unlike others, when I post out of place, I admit it.

chexfan, come over here if you've got thoughts to share about the new album.
