Need Your Opinion Please
Hi all- I need some opinions and sugestions for my upcoming car rental in CVG. Here's the situation
Dollar
- $21.99/week
- Full size
- No navigation system
Hertz
- Approx. $210/week
- Full size
- Neverlost Navigational system
Even after my odyssey (sp?) in getting the $21.99 rate with Dollar, and even though I'm armed with a fax from customer service, I'm still a bit wary. After using Hertz Neverlost for a week, I'm...attached. It includes everything you could possibly need, gas stations, etc. It makes traveling so much easier and less worrisome, and I don't have to spend the whole time awake staring at a map! It comes with a price though. On the other hand, I have good detailed maps of the Cincinnati area, and directions from Microsoft's Streets and Trips.
Here are the possibilities I'm considering...
-Cancel Dollar and go with Hertz
-See what happens at the counter with Dollar, and go with Hertz if things don't work out
-Persist on the $21.99 rate and go with Dollar
Any suggestions/comments/questions are appreciated.
Thanks!

If the $22/wk vs $210/wk is actually true, you could purchase you own nice personal GPS unit for the difference and use it for many years to come.
Another reason why Ft should have its own nice forum!

"It includes everything you could possibly need, gas stations, etc. "
For some reason, I never needed a GPS to find these when driving in the USA.
They often are on main Interstates. And have large illuminated signs 200 foot high saying "Exxon" etc.

Please look here http://www.trip.com/UBoard/UltraBoar...7931&SID=16130 for the whole $21.99 story. An interesting one it is...

I have NO idea about the legal situation of this in the U.S.A. I know for sure, that the consumer wouldn't have a 'case' in Europe as obviously, on first sight, the initial rate is far away from any reasonably rate (by error).
No case in Europe for sure - how bout in the USA?

You can buy a good GPS for $200. Buy it and Rent from Dollar, if they'll actually honor the rate. Doesn't hurt to have backup reservations on Hertz though -- unless there's a cancellation/no-show fee.
Neverlost does rock however. It made my Kansas City trip a breeze -- almost could sleep through the ride

After the treatment you've taken and you still want to rent with Dollar! I would chalk it up as a very bad job on Dollars part and rent with Hertz. Otherwize take your chances with Dollar and come armed with the confirmation printout showing the price and maybe, just maybe they will cave in. I doubt it, but you never know. I'm sure there is somewhere in the legal print they can correct for improper advertisements. Your choice but personally I'd go with Hertz and boycott Dollar.

I'd go for Hertz too, if it weren't for the other people in my group (who want to save money). The way I figure...Dollar can lose money on this rental this one time, and won't get any business from me in the future. And even with all the stuff I've been through, I'd think it would be a shame to give it up.
Oh well...we'll see tomorrow evening.
