Airpasses

A student friend of mine from Australia is currentlly in the US for 6 months .
Since his departure , his parents have decided to visit him and do a tour on Delta from lax to atl to tul to mco and back to lax staying a few weeks at each place.
As he has already left oz , it is too late , I think, to buy an airpass with UA.
The itinerary on delta if just bought in the US is around US$ 1500 ( a bit pricey for a student )
Is anyone aware of any other airlines offering an reasonably priced airpass equivalent for a non US national who has already landed in the country?
Thanks,
Ozflier

Assuming the parants are based in OZ, have not yet departed, and clearly know the routing they want, they can buy the airpasses in their names and his, and he can join them on all legs.

The DATES may be changed on most airpasses, but not the routing once locked in.

From memory they work about as low as $US60 per FLIGHT NUMBER, depending on how many you buy, whether that be SFO-LAX or SEA-MIA ..... one flight #, one coupon only needed.

Thanks,
However both UA and Delta have told me that the Airpass has to be issued before the initial transpac segment is flown.

Another option are VUSA (Visit USA) fares.

These are purchased outside of the US and are often but not always cheaper than the cheapest US domestic ticket.

If the original ticket was bought from an agent they may be inclined to also issue the VUSA tickets.

I'm confused .. the parents want to use the airpasses right? Have THEY left Oz?

And as per post above, the originating travel agency should be able to swing it as the student is a bona fide non US resident, who booked It'l ticket with them.

Dear Fellow Australian,
Sorry to confuse you . I imagine it is the excitement of the Olympics.
The parents are flying to the US in 3 weeks. They have already purchased a combined ANZ/Delta ticket to cover transpac and US domestic travel.
Now as an afterthought, they want their son who flew to the US on UA several months ago to work as a camp counseller to be able to join them on the round US itinerary.
I've got a feeling that they are up for around US$ 1500 to do this with Delta.
Can you buy a VUSA fare once you are in the USA?
Thanks for everyone' s thoughts to date.
