The Train In Spain

In planning my next European odyssey, I generated a number of questions.

1. Can I take the train from Madrid, Spain to Toulouse, France?

2. Does the train run through or stop in Andorra?

3. How much time would be involved in getting from A-B in 1 (above)?

4. I am planning on doing my own research, of course, but do any of you know of a oneworld carrier that flies from Toulouse to Milan, Italy?

5. We would like to travel from Milan to Zurich, Switzerland via train. Any tips? Again, how much time is involved in that journey? Best to buy tickets on this side of the pond?

I know that is a #2 washtub full of questions, but trust that all of you will come through as you always do.

Thanking you in advance. Cheers!

here is the swiss railway timetable version
http://www.sbb.ch/pv/index_e.htm

for departure type: MILAN
for arrival type: ZURICH

and you will see that the train takes between 6 to 8 hours.

Don't think RENFE gives FF miles, but try checking their site for schedule and fares
http://www.renfe.es

Or Rail Europe for a more extensive listing
http://www.raileurope.com/us/rail/fa...ules/index.htm

Rail Europe may not be too helpful. I find they often don't have routes they ought to, and their prices are usually way out of whack (booking fees seem to be built into the fares). I would try RENFE or SNCF: sncf.com - no www - and look for the tiny Union Jack to get the site in English, unless your French is up to a web interface. Bonne chance.

Make that SNCF, not SCNF:

I've corrected the original post...

Rudi,

Many thanks. After reading PremEx's trip report on his Swiss adventure, you already seem like a friend. I would hope to meet you when we come to Zurich; is it possible?

I am not certain I ever thanked you for the spot-on directions to the British Airways Club in Zurich. I will do it now; Thank You.
I was originally denied entry, but the lady chased me down and admitted she was in error. I was slightly under the weather and put up no fight. It all worked out.

Wow. I am overwhelmed by the quick and excellent responses. Thank you all. I hope this trip takes place next year, but it may be 2002.

Family wants to fly 1st Class. I need 375,000 miles and I am two-thirds of the way there. The miles are stacking up every way I know.

I will keep you all posted on the plans, the progress, and will submit a trip report.

You will likely see more questions as the plan comes together. Thanks.

(if I am at home then)

until now I have met 36 FlyerTalkers in Zurich.
