Stockholm is my favourite European city too - but I wouldn't say it is a party capital
I would be surprised if you didn't really enjoy a trip to Scandinavia, but somewhere Meditterranean might be better if you really want to party. London, Dublin and Paris are pertty lively too. You could hop around western Europe by plane or overnight train.

isn't scandinavia the collection of places where people can be falling down drunk after pounding cocktails all night long and NOBODY cares???
not a party capital?? i wouldn't visit twice a year if it wasn't.
the mediterranean scene is definitely more active, plus its got that weather thing well into september that's hard to beat. sounds like greece or spain would be the best choices for joe.

Ionman: At $7 US for a beer or a glass of wine spending a night pounding drinks in Norway and Sweden can be pretty rough on the wallet.

I'm sure James will back me on this one, but ask any Brit where the 'best' place to spend 2 weeks partying it up, and he/she would say Ibiza in the Spanish Balearic Islands (Sun, Sea,, .... and cheap booze). However, there is zero culture, so if this figures in your plans, then the suggestions of Barcelona, or Turkey / Greece would be better.
In 2 weeks, you could cover a few cities, especially if you used London as a base, as there are numerous cheap flight deals from London (Stansted) to e.g. Spain, Copenhagen, Dublin, Edinburgh, etc. Go, Ryan Air, Easy Jet, all spring to mind and have web sites.

SST: Although your question was directed to The Viking, I thought I'd offer that I recently stayed at The Strand at the harbor in Bergen and was pleased. View rooms look out over the harbor and the public market. Rooms were quite spacious and tastefully furnished with pine beds and there was a large breakfast buffet. The bar there is also a hot spot, one night people were lined up around the building to get in. Price was moderate. Only drawback is the hotel is on the top couple of floors of a building with a very small, very slow elevator. Have fun in Bergen.

but your point is well made. However, I really like your second suggestion.
