Here's a neat trick -- fares on YVR-MEX return via DFW are about 1/3 the price of YVR-DFW return. And 'cause it's an international flight, I get a free stopover in DFW. Therefore, by spending an extra 5 or 6 hours on a plane, I save big bucks, and also get extra tier status miles.

Because of this, I'll be travelling DFW-MEX-DFW on May 6, going and returning on the same day. If all goes as planned, I'll be arriving at MEX at 3:40pm and departing about 1 hour later at 4:45pm.

I'd be grateful if anyone can advise me whether this is doable or not, will I need to clear Mexican customs/immigration, will it be a problem, etc. I'd like to just get off the plane for a stretch, but hang out in the boarding area and just get back on the plane.
