priority pass expands in the US with US

just got my updated directory of lounges for priority pass...and us airways clubs have just been added to the listing. this gives them an additional 18 locations in which they had no representation. they now are in over 100 us airports.

i've heard people's opinions of this program, and i just have to say that i LOOOOVE this program! for the $229 fee i would pay to join 1 airline club program, i now have access to us, nw, tw, and select dl lounges. and as for international lounges, which are staples around the world, i always have access to something in some airport all over europe. i joined in january, and so far i've visited at least 30 lounges. the only places i'd like better representation is jfk (no dl crown room there) and cdg. i came up short in istanbul, but that was because the new airport had just opened and the lounges are operated by different people than those at the old airport.

best money i have spent for sure. now, why anyone would ever do the $99 plan plus $21 per entry version is beyond me. i wouldn't worry about lounge membership if i were only going to use a lounge less than 7 times over the course of a year. if you use it more than that, you've already paid more than the $229 membership fee.

the only folks it leaves out in the cold are 1w,*a, and pres clubs members. i'm platinum on aa, so i'm covered internationally, and domestically i can usually find a lounge of the other guys nearby. as for *a, i guess i'll get working on that. i'll skip pres clubs for now.

We have this posted already:

But a very nice personal review of the Priority Pass card program lonman.

A little confession: I am among those who pays the $99 dollars a year plus the $21 dollar per visit. This is my BACKUP Lounge program (since I already pay $250 a year for United Red Carpet membership) when I can't find an RCC lounge.

My company will not pay for the club memberships (Not surprised) BUT they will pay the $21 dollar a visit fee IF I can prove I used the visit to do work stuff.

my (swiss) VISA card (from the swiss USB bank) includes a free Priority-pass membership and allows the first 4 visits per calendar year free (afterwards $21 per visit/guest).

You mentioned 18 locations. There are 26 USAirways clubs. Which are excluded?
I'm glad US decided to open up its clubs to Priority Pass members while denying it to its own Chairman's Preferred members <grumble>

dg1 18 refers to new airports for the program; the other 8 clubs are in airports where they already had nw, tw, or dl clubs in place. all us airways clubs are included.

catman sorry, didn't see that when i looked this morning. as you are a *a addict, i can understand your limited need for priority pass. but, would you use the backup program even when you're traveling for work if you're on a *a flight if one lounge is close enough? it seems odd that you couldn't rationalize to them the savings you could pass along after using the lounges more than 7 times. also, proving to them you actually did work must be an interesting proposition...

p.s. where r u in jc? i'm on jersey ave.

corrections:

19 new priority pass airports worldwide, 9 are in the us

all 26 usairways clubs are included. the nine new us airports are all locations where us airways clubs are the only affiliated lounges available. they are bwi, buf, clt, cle, greensboro, indianapolis, pit, rochester & syr.
