Rome shopping
I'll be in Rome in early April (6-10). Can anyone direct me to any major stores similar to G.Lafayette or Printemps in Paris? If not, where are the "reasonable places to shop". Finally, how about some suggested restaurants. Thank you

Hi, You might want to find a Coin department store for purchases. As for a resturaunt--this past summer my husband and I had a wonderful
anniversary dinner at Ristorante Vernerina, Borgo Pio 38 (near the Vatican). The food was wonderful and the staff friendly and attentive. We were the first dinners to arrive and the last to leave. The owner treated us to coffee and drinks after dinner. I would advise against Les Estoiles. We walked out before ordering dinner due to our lousy treatment.

Shopping and Rome are two of my favorite words/pasttimes, but unfortunately I've never found much in the way of shopping in Rome. Now, Venice and Florence are another story ...

Probaly, La Rinascente in the Piazza Colonna or Coin, as already mentioned.
Letiole has a point I think! Great fashion etc, but for top quality at an excellent price/value, Rome does not jump to mind- too many other great things to do here anyway!

Rome is a great place to shop for antiques and of course religious relics. I found a neat little twisted street near the Vatican that is full of antique shops.

Thanks, everyone for the suggetions. Please keep them coming. As we will be in Rome for my wife's birthday, the restaurant suggested by Library Dragon is a good option, unless I hear of better ones.
I recently was in Paris and found things incredibly cheap at 6.8 ff to the dollar. I bought TWO large copper pots (saute pan and sauce pan) at Dehillerin for ~$110, a steal when you consider just retinning ONE in the US costs over $100. Hopefully things will also be cheap in Rome with the strong dollar. Once again, thanks for all the suggestions.
