Driving from SF to Monterey?

Does anyone have a suggestion of a scenic drive from San Francisco to Monterey?

Highly recommended. If you have time go all the way to Big Sur.

Skyline through Los Gatos might be another choice, or down to the coast at Pescadero. Or by way of Big Basin State Park. Stop for wine at Bonny Doon!

17 Mile Drive from Monterey to Carmel or vice versa. Have lunch or dinner at Roy's at the Inn at Spanish Bay. Or Fresh Cream or Montfrio in Monterey. Or Rio Grill in Carmel. Go again in April when the ice plant is blooming in Pacific Grove. We were married at sunset at Lover's Point. Naturally, Monterey is one of our favorites.

OMNI : I agree..most beautiful place on earth. I will retire (someday) and live in Pacific Grove.

If you have a bit more time, spend a night in Cambria (about halfway between LA and SF on 1) at the Blue Dolphin Inn. You'll never regret it at any cost.
