Web-based storage of important documents
I just found a great web site that I thought might interest other travellers. It's www.docspace.com. Amongst other things, this site enables one to store up to 25Mb in files. I now use it as an offsite backup for my "cannot lose" files. I believe you can pay more to get more storage. I hope others find this as useful as I have.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've often ftp'ed a zipped (password protected) file to my own website (or a geocities one), for download later.
For ongoing backups, I use connected.com. It's U$19.95 per month, and pretty slow to start up (because it doesn't rely on the archive attribute on your local files, it actually checks them against its version). But it gives me a feeling of security that I _could_ get the files on the road if I needed them, or they'll send you a CD-ROM.
I tried atrieva.com too, but found it too slow (and they have a 1-gig limit on storage).
