I can't verify the accuracy of this, since no sources were listed for the datum. So take it with a grain of salt:
Average number of people airborne over the US any given hour: 61,000.

That comes out to 534,360,000 passengers per year, which sounds reasonable when you consider DL alone carries over 100,000,000 per year (though some percentage of those are international) ...
