why jams on holidays?

When I fly, the planes are usually at least 90% occupied. So how can there be such flying problems on holidays? are they adding extra flights?

Yes. More flights are added during times when higher demand is expected. Aircraft and crew utilization is increased.

Not necessarily just children.

"My lip balm, too?"
"And my eye shade?"

(Even with TSApre you're unfortunately sometimes still hold up by these discussions if the airport doesn't have a dedicated TSApre lane)
