Thanks for the link. It’s a bit jarring to see that every messenger is a white make. I assume the messengers are the ones with medals around their necks.

Gosh, can we please not make every single thing a question of race, gender or whatever else people seem to make up offences about?!

To the OP’s question, no I have never seen one of said messengers.

There are circumstances in which they are fairly discreet: you won't necessarily be aware of their presence. As to protected characteristics, some/many are retired from service careers. Their characteristics (protected or otherwise) may reflect those of the demographic pool from which they were chosen at the date of appointment.

I think I was on a flight with one from DUB a few weeks ago actually. Ended up in the lift with him in arrivals. Not 100% sure it was one of these chaps but certainly on official business.

Yes. We were both travelling long haul in business class. The crew were rather discreetly protective of him, for obvious reasons.

However we had previously met in relation to both of our prior armed forces service lives! When we started to chat the crew appeared just to make sure he wasn't being bothered, and once assured we were old colleagues equally discretely withdrew.

They do have a point, out of 30 people not one brown faced brit can be trusted with a diplomatic bag. Tho trusted enough to be rank and file solders.

Tho I would say Britain is far more open and out there with diversity than other countries. Having lived in Germany and Denmark that have had 2nd generations migrants Germany with Vietnamese connection before the wall fell and West Berlin with the Turkish. You still don’t see much diversity in areas such as news readers on screen. The power of seeing Trevor McDonald on our screenin the 70s can have a huge impactto people. It maybe nothing to do you. But we still have an old boys club for the nice but dim privately educated people that if they had different life wouldn’t be in the postion they are in now as they got their due to connections not merit.

No I am not. Let me ask you this though: do you take offence to the fact that pretty much all domestic helpers in cities like Hong Kong and Singapore are Filipino? I do not hear anybody crying about that.

And by the way, you talk about ‘brown faced’ Brits not being trusted with government secrets - last time I checked the prime minister fell in that category (and I suspect many would take offence to your ‘labelling’ them as such…)

this is what aboutism the subject was about UK societal structure and how the civil service picks the special ones and how the old boys club is still alive and kicking. You have to be twice as good and work twice as hard to get ahead still in many parts of society in the Uk if you are a British born but brown brit. Over a white one from a fee based school.

While we are at it, can we have more female bricklayers, it is a 99% male dominated trade. Also, perhaps let’s balance in the prison population which is 90% male😜 Meanwhile on SS Titanic, why was it right that they adopted the Birkenhead drill? Women and children first, that seems hugely sexist too. Please sir, do tell me when another bandwagon comes along I need to jump on one. Are they like buses, you wait forever then two come along at once?
