It was re john_ny. Not that I shouldn't get an F in reading comprehension on general principle. While I can of course read, just don't really make too much of an effort unless I'm being paid for it.

And if you spent more than 3 seconds in paying attention, you would understand that we have been responding to different poster in the thread.

No worries. While only speaking for myself, I very likely am guilty of not reading posts carefully 90% of the time and likely miss the gist of them on at least 50% of the time!

Pack light. Bring only what you will need on the trip.

[QUOTE=jondo;35637589]Noise canceling headphones help alot with falling asleep even if you don't listen to music. Put on some long white noise audio track if the "active" noise calling mode the headphones come with isn't enough.[/QUOTE]

This. Also, United's IFE has "relax mode" on most of its widebody planes (which will include your SIN-SFO flight). I just put on a track, turn off the monitor, and sleep, but you can also leave the monitor on if you like the screensaver.

ah I did not, I'm a Singapore native and this was my first time out of Asia in general. Do hit me up if you're still interested in coming! I've a list of must-go places and food to have

If you have AMEX Platinum (as locals call - '1712 card') you can go to Centurion Lounge which is in T3. International terminal, T2/T2 are interconnected airside.

Your luggage won't be checked-thru. You will need to pick up your luggage at SFO and re-check at the final destination. When you pick up your luggage after customs, do not exit to the Arrivals section, rather look for the sign that says Connection. Take your luggage and re-check there. You will avoid the misery of doing this at the departure section and going thru security again.

Michigan in November, from Singapore...can hor? I am sure you are going to pack adequately - you are gonna have at least a 30C-40C difference in outdoor temperature.

P.S. Don't expect any kopi, teh, laksa, char kwai tow, nasi lemak - any food you are familiar with in Singapore to be available there. On the other hand, you will have the opportunity to enjoy excellent steak instead of 'western food' at hawker centers and try Chicago-style deep-dash pizza.

And don't wander alone at night. Even not alone - don't, see what happened at NYC this week...

Safely made it back and had a blast there. Almost couldn't tahan the cold because the jacket I brought was only rated to 5C at the coldest, the weather unexpectedly dropped below the negatives halfway through the week. And actual authentic western food is so much better than the ones you get at Astons and the like

Great that you have good time. And if you really want to enjoy truly Western - I mean Old West - food, environment, nature and lifestyle, come and see Arizona and Nevada. You won't be disappointed.

But better not to come in June-August - it is scorching hot.

I'd throw New Mexico on the list for solid west / southwest cuisine. Albuquerque is an underrated town for good food.

I always recommend Los Pollos Hermanos to anyone traveling to Albuquerque.
