Getting into an absurd mindset for points

My partner is getting into the points game and just got the Bilt Mastercard, as she can earn a few thousand points a month by collecting her roommates' shares of the rent and paying the landlord the full amount.

Starting tomorrow, the Bilt card gets 2x points on the first day of the month (doubling all category multipliers as well).

My partner also has been having stomach pains and is going through some medical tests, but she has half-seriously said on multiple occasions that she should just eat a whole bunch of crap late at night and go to the ER.

She just messaged me: "If I go after midnight it'll be 2x points!"

I think she's into this hobby for real.

The points are great and there’s risk of devaluation

Now that is dedication!

I am too lazy to get in to it.

Points games, not executed properly, are variations of gambling addiction.

Typically it's the "adrenaline rush" effect. The "Hey, I can use some points to get something neat!" effect. Give it a bit of time and usually people will settle down and quite a few lose interest because it does take quite a bit of time to get something substantial. The hardcore will say something like "If I go here and order using this card that is associated with another firm, I'll get triple points.... or YATZHEE!"

The proof that they're really serious is if they're still so enthusiastic in a year or two.
