Honeymoon Help

My Fiancé and I are planning our honeymoon for the end of June/ early July 2022. We have 1 million Marriot points and 60,000 Capital one miles currently. It does not seem likely that we will be able to accumulate many more airline miles, which puts our plans for a round the world honeymoon on hold. We are open to paying cash for the flights if needed, we are looking for a great honeymoon location that has a beach and a Marriott, and is not Hawaii, Aruba, or the Virgin Islands. We will be traveling from the east coast, so I guess the Caribbean, but are also open to any other location if getting there would not be too much of a financial burden. Any insight would be helpful.

While you can do some looking, I would not do any serious planning and certainly not spend any funds which are not 100% fully refundable until either the pandemic is over or 30-45 days prior to your trip, e.g. May 2022.

There is no way to predict what will be open, whether one will be permitted to travel and under what circumstances), as well as what one will be permitted to do at any given location. Would you really want to go someplace on lockdown where you face a mandatory quarantine in a hotel room?

Things may look very different 15 months from now and you want to be able to make this a memorable trip in a good way, not some place you have to go because you have locked yourself in.

Welcome to FT.... The Marriott board here gets way more traffic than Travelbuzz. With a million points you could do pretty much any Marriott in the world, and there are a lot of threads there specifically about beach Marriotts. You could even do a Travel Package to generate some airline miles along with your hotel stay, although probably not enough to get a true RTW award.

For the far flung destinations, the "not too much of a financial burden" bit might come down to your willingness to fly coach to get there... Lots of amazing properties in Asia, Oceana, etc. - but could be pricey to get there in paid J/F unless you find a screaming deal somewhere. There are also some other Caribbean destinations that aren't Aruba or the Virgin Islands, but they may be fairly similar to those islands.

Anyway, check out the Marriott board - that's where the best info is going to be.

As other posters have said, you'll have better luck asking in the respective forums. One thing that will help us help you is telling us your departure airport as that determines what options are available.
