If you look at the chart on the right of each page you will see First Class has a width of 21 inches on both aircraft.

However, I believe (and perhaps someone can confirm), that the arm rests on these aircraft are fixed in First, meaning you would have a max of 21 inches. If you bought 3 economy seats between the two of you, you would have 3 x 18 inch seats, and you would be able to lift the arm rest. So pick the option you think would be most comfortable for you.

Yes, I am fairly certain the middle armrests in First Class on the A320 series are immovable because they contain the tray-table. The aisle armerests on the newer AA aircraft may be movable, but the airline usually requires them to be lowered for takeoff and landing.

Welcome to FlyerTalk, Astingel2016 - and congratulations on your upcoming nuptials and honeymoon!!

As you start to narrow down your options, please post back with more information. The community can provide more input if we know your airlines or specific aircraft types being considered.

With AA, the regionals are indicated by "Operated by _______ Eagle,"

FYI, A=Airbus, B=Boeing (larger "mainline" jets), C=Canadair, E=Embraer (smaller regional jets)

Update

Hey everyone! So because tax money is being held longer this year because we have kids, we decided to go with a layaway plan for our flight. We booked 2 business/first class round trip tickets for Cancun. Costing a bit more because of their fees, but it works for us to pay weekly vs paying all at once. We figured on paying around $2000 anyway. It ended up being around $1940. We're okay with that. I chose the aisle seat because the outside armrest is movable. Hopefully this will make things comfortable. Plus we get to preboard and exit first as well as 2 free checked bags each. We also get breakfast on our morning flight from Charlotte to Cancun and lunch on the way back. I think it ended up working out pretty well. We'll just see how things go! Thanks for all the advice!
