Would the FA have done something?

My brother was the middle seat of a 3-3 configuration. The people in the window and aisle seats were fairly young men who knew each other.
They spent most of the trip talking loudly to each other right across my brother. Trying to be politically correct as best I can, these people were not Americans and were apparently fairly dirty and crude and my brother was actually afraid of contacting some sort of infection from what was passing right in front of his face.

He politely asked him if they would like to switch seats are they could be adjacent but they refused.

My passive brother did nothing but I'm wondering if the FA would've done something if he contacted her.

This guy has a method, but you'll need a bag of peanuts. Skip to 2:40.

Were they Europeans? I hear they don't wash much and don't use deodorant.

So what was passing in front of his face? Feces, rotten goat head, vials of infectious disease samples??

No way to know what the FA would have done without having asked them. It's possible to have been reseated to another empty seat if one was available.

If the FA was notified before the plane pushed back from the gate, he or she could address passenger hygiene or health issues that had the potential to impact other passengers' health and comfort. Unfortunately, once the flight is airborne, the only option is to reseat passengers if space is available.

Why not just ask to swap seats? If you ask the FA that I'm sure they're more than happy to ask the men for your brother.

It's a well-known fact that dirty Americans are never as dirty as dirty non-Americans. Something about the flag I've heard.
