Unhappy SLC to BLR

Hello all I am new to this board and would love to hear some great advice

I was wondering if any of you had an explanation for the price differences I am seeing between USA and Europe flights.

Okay .....so I have been using skyscanner (what is your thoughts on this website?)

I searched round trips flights from Berlin Germany to Salt Lake City Utah for May 23 to August 1st and the price came up as 1079 dollars and the flights are sold by American airlines

When I switch the departing city to Salt Lake City instead of Berlin the tickets go up to 1409 dollars and the layovers are also worse.

If any of you know why this happens and if there is a way around this I would really like to know! Any advice would be helpful

More demand for SLC-TXL-SLC than TXL-SLC-TXL.

(TXL is Berlin. BLR is Bangalore)

Not a whole lot you can do about it.

That is what I thought. Bummer

I was thinking of booking multiple flights to try and save some money but that seems risky.

Did you try using a German proxy to check the SLC-TXL-SLC fare? I have heard (probably not true) that airline pricing algorithms updates prices based on multiple hits from the same region or IP, among other criteria.

Not necessarily more demand but different elasticities of demand for the two different groups of passengers.

Since you are staying all summer, perhaps just find the cheapest flight you can to a US hub and then take an LCC flight to SLC. Or fly to DEN or LAS and drive.
