It might help people if you set out briefly what the changes you are referring to are, so that those not familiar, but interested (e.g. me) can follow discussion.

It would also help people respond to your question if you say which country you are referring to when you say 'nationwide' - you give no indication whatsoever!

Lightning is unpredictable and never follows the exact same path, so without further info from the OP, I'd say it's always changing on every jetway worldwide.

The OP is asking about lighting (artificial illumination fixtures) rather than lightning...though it's not at all clear what the question is exactly.

D'oh!

In my attempt to be literal and facetious, I just made myself look dumb. Sigh...par for the course.

I meant the ceiling lights in the jetway, and I'm in the USA.

Jetway lighting is typically linear T8 or T12 fluorescent lamps in either a recessed lensed 2x4 troffer or a surface mount 1x4 fixture. Although, there may be other variants.

I haven't heard of any specific program to upgrade these, but it is a pretty simple retrofit to replace the fluorescent lamps with LED T8 tubes, which might be what you have seen in some locations.

Fair play: this is quite possibly the most obscure and random, yet still on-topic question I think I've ever seen on Flyertalk - and that is saying something! ^

jetway lighting

Why would jetway interior lighting be changing? This is, er...niche.

Your track record can't be worse than mine! Plus with me, reading on smaller screens words like that often look the same if I read quickly...hate to admit it's time for reading glasses in my case!

As obscure of a question as the OP was, I guess the above answer shows we seem to have someone who knows just about any random subject here on FT!

I have to say if there were suddenly bats hanging from the ceiling and snakes on the floor of a jetway, I'm not sure I would notice. I'm usually pretty oblivious at that point of the process.

LED changeovers would make sense, as that is happening more and more in general it seems.

I'm more interested in knowing why OP asked this question than the answer to it.

Maybe he's a photographer doing a model shoot in a jetway and wants to be sure his white balance is correct. Flourescent vs. LED.

Not nearly. I nominate the people who were maintaining a list of which way the baggage carousels revolve at every airport in the world. My favorite entry? "Unknown, broken and not revolving."
