BA216 -- odd flight plan -- question

Hi all,

I'll be traveling on BA 216, the A380 from IAD-LHR.

The question is I have is I was looking on FlightAware and have noticed that a number of days in the past week or so, the plane has been doubling back on itself.

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/B...330Z/KIAD/EGLL

For example, on the 24th, around the Delaware area, it doubled back then went on. Same day, did the same thing around the Long Island area and again just north of that.

On the 23rd, it did it around the Boston area and again just off Goose Bay.

Any ideas on why it is doing this? Thanks in advance!

I would guess it is just an anomoly related to different data sources being used by Flightaware for different phases of the flight.

FAA regulations requires FAA data to be delayed by 5 minutes for example.

I'd say this one's pretty simple: it isn't doing that, we're just seeing a glitch in the data.
