A better name for the Split Scimitar Wingtip?

To be honest, 'wingtip' is a smart and short term to describe a concept.

'Sharklet' is a short and to-the-point term to describe a specific type of it. It's quite accurate and a bit fun as well

But 'Split Scimitar Wingtip', oh please... can we please come up with a better name for the thing?

As it seems that the ends of aircraft wings start to grow more and more tentacles, I personally started to call them after our great lord Cthulhu, or in other words 'Cthulets'.

Anyone has a better suggestion?

Laughed at this. So think it should be "tentacles".

technically, there's already a better name ... the correct one, according to the company:
"Split Scimitar Winglet"

Well... the thread was intended to be read a bit with a , but ok, let's stay dead serious.

As stated, what I don't like about that name is that it's incredibly long, where the others are simply to the point and short, yet even quite fun in a way.

You don't like how "Blended Split-Tip Scimitar Winglet" rolls off the tongue?

I've never heard them refered to, or had the need to refer to them, as anything other than winglets. If someone wants to discuss the specifics of each type of design, they are probably comfortable with the full name. And it would be needed to differentiate.

Yeah. When I saw the title "Split Scimitar Wingtip" I thought this was going to be a thread about men's shoes!
