missing flight in transit zone
hi!
i have a theoretical question and was wondering if you guys might know the answer:
what if there is someone who has no money (like he has a big debt at the bank already) and is flying from A to C via B.
in B he doesn't go through immigration and stays at the transit zone. There he finds a sofa and falls asleep. when his flight is ready to board they announce his name but the fella keeps sleeping and therefore he misses his flight.
Due to political reasons he doesn't get a visa for the country B and neither does he have money to buy a new flight.
What would happen? Will the airline put him on a new flight?
(i know it is kinda the story of The Terminal but I would like to know the scenario above and not talking about the movie)

The airline may accommodate him to his final destination regardless of why missed his flight. This is not required of them but I've been put in a later flight after missing my original flight.
I guess the next option would be to call family/friends to wire money. If it's not an option, the passenger's consulate may need to get involved.
