When to book?
Hi everyone,
I apologize in advance but I swear, I couldn't locate an existing thread to bring this up
To make a long story short, I'll be spending a part of my next vacation with a close friend of mine in Czech Republic. Air Transat already released the schedules and fares, I see 1032 CAD whether it is 2 or 3 weeks (week of June 15th is departure date, I have to be there for the 19th/20th).
Although I'm open to other carriers with a layover, it is the cheapest YUL-PRG-YUL in June. I have 72000 Aeroplan miles but it is so expensive in taxes and fees, redemption seems worthless.
Anyway, this isn't so much about the carrier.
It is not my intention to book before January, at least, but I'm curious about the pricing evolution. How low can it go? How long can I wait?
I know, airline tickets are like lottery and I'm quite confident I can pay around 900 CAD but still, I'd love to hear some feedback about what would be a "good price". I haven't purchased an actual transatlantic flight since I paid 838 CAD for YUL-LHR-CPH/TXL-LHR-YUL on BA in November 2009.
Thanks

Nobody knows. But summer fares have been rising in recent years. I'd say anything around or below CAD$1,000 to a secondary, less competitive Europe destination in late June is worth jumping on.
But if we have an economic collapse this winter and the fare drops to half that, don't chide me.
