Randomly on passports

Just got around to renewing my Australian passport, and noticed that the Passport Office page is displaying this ugly image of the new Australian passport:

So hopefully I renew mine in time to get the old version. While I do love the "Australian-flag blue" and am excited to see the new "worlds first colour floating image", I can't help but find it a bit too busy, having gotten used to the minimalistic old N series passport with "Australia" integrated into the coat of arms. Just the capitalisation of the country name with the non-capitalised "Passport" is annoying.

On this note, any one care to share their views on the world's ugliest passport and/or the new Australian passport?

I'm not a fan of this design, I prefer my old N series (first gen ePassport) look. That being said, I think it's far from ugly, just not as clean as the old one.

M series were first gen ePassport - that's what I've got :-)

N series is probably the nicest I know of in recent times though.

I definitely agree that I dislike the all capitalised 'AUSTRALIA' on the cover of that new design

I think the first gen ePassport was in the later M series (still blue, with capitalised PASSPORT).

EDIT: Sorry, just read above post to see that jozdemir has already commented on that

Funny this comes up, because my best Australian friend recently was looking through my passport. His verdict?

"Jeez, dude. Look at this, X. Amelorn's passport has eagles and battleships and s---. Australia's so f-----g boring." That was perhaps the one time in my adult life I was proud to be an American.

This reminds my of the green US passport I had last decade and the many "what is that" questions it provoked.

My mistake, just dug through my old passports. You're entirely right 2nd gen was the N series.

Seriously? The Australian passport is also full of wombats and platypuses and s---. You want boring, try eg. a Japanese passport.

Those were passports issued during the bicentennial of US consular services in or around 1993. All of them had expired within ten years of issue, and none of them were issued in or after 1994 IIRC, as blue covers returned to being the standard for the standard ordinary US passports in 1994.

Even the old Canadian passport didn't have a chip, or one of the last page containing some electronic circuit......the new passports are hard(er) compared to the old non-chip passports.

Prefer the old ones to the new ones. I guess that's how pretty much all of them are. Old is gold
