Finding a good fare for Lima-BKK

Hey gang,

I'm searching for fares to go from Lima to Bangkok in early April for me and my girlfriend, but the best price that I'm coming up with is about $1800. It would also be a hassle to fly through the US because she is Peruvian and needs a 48-hr. visa just to transfer planes in the US (or so she tells me).

Anyone have any tips on finding a good value/route to BKK?? Thanks so much!

I have about 50k AMEX points and 25k AA points as well, but that's not really enough to do much.

I think you're going to be paying a lot no matter what.

If you try to find a route that avoids the US, you're going to be paying much higher fares.

I did a quick inquiry on this and you'd pay $3k to take the KLM flight from LIM-AMS-BKK.

You'd pay $2600 on Aeromexico just to get to Tokyo, and then you need to figure something out to get down to Bangkok.

If you opt for the cheaper flights going through the US, your girlfriend will have to pay $160 for a transit visa. Source: http://travel.state.gov/content/visa...r/transit.html

Seems like getting the transit visa and nabbing one of the $1800 flights is the way to do it.

Yeah, it's looking that way huh? Might be a little outside the budget unfortunately. Thanks for checking it out though! Much appreciated!
