Hampton Inn Wilmington (NC) Medical Park:
but what really irked our friend was that they didn't even provide cream cheese for their bagels. Really? I sure expect more from Hampton and Hilton. |
Uh...what?
“Caution for the magnetically sensitive” I can not remember the name of the attraction but it was all about swimming and feeding the turtles in 2001. The trip was EXCELLENT over all and a once and a lifetime experience. It should be noted, however, that I was swimming without fins and strayed away from the group and was attacked by a turtle (my husband witnessed from around 50 feet away) It grabbed my foot and tried to pull me down - thinking it was a shark I kicked and fought violently as it had a hold of my foot and was trying to pull me down.. I am fine now even though it did dislocate a toe and caused profuse bleeding (I really hope I didn't hurt the turtle) My husband witnessed the entire event but I chose not to report it as I did not understand and have since learned that they are attracted to those who may be electromagnetically sensitive (I am not able to wear watches as they stop etc.) so do not blame anyone - just want to create a little awareness:) http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR...ECK_RATES_CONT |
review of Doubletree Luxembourg :
' “Haunted!” Reviewed 2 weeks ago My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel over Valentine's day, in room 1401 (i think) and we had an average stay except for a terrible night's sleep. We were both woken up by strange phenomenons (the door opened several times on its own (!), we both heard footsteps and a strange voice emanating from the bathroom, there was a loud knock on the door at 4 am (but noone there when i opened)) and we both had the same weird dream. We are both rational people btw, and do not believe in such things, but something was very off with that room.' |
When reading the reviews of restaurants, it can also be very amusing reading the replies. Especially UK restaurants don't neccesarily take the criticism lying down.
One example : Quote : “Crap doesn't even cover it!!!” Reviewed October 29, 2013 This sandwich shop is ridiculous, apparently award winning, I do not know how! Although the upstairs seating area or downstairs shop were not busy at all we still endured a 40 minute wait FOR A SANDWICH!! & when it finally came my order was completely wrong. The customer service was appalling to say the least no apology from any of the staff for the wait or the incorrect order! Upon leaving the person in front & behind myself in the queue were both asked I hope everything was ok as they paid, I was ignored!!! I would not recommend this place at all unless you want a 40 minute wait for the incorrect food & when the correct food came it was vile!! CheshireSandwichCo, Owner at Cheshire Sandwich Company, responded to this review, October 30, 2013 Thanks for your review - clearly your pithy & articulate review title caught my attention this morning. I would like to take the opportunity to ascertain a few facts... When you were in my cafe, we were in fact very busy and had to turn people away. Unless you can look around corners, it is impossible to see the downstairs shop from where you were sitting. For your information, we had takeaway customers throughout the lunch time period, as we usually do. When we are busy there can sometimes be a delay in getting food to our customers but we try our best to serve everyone in order and as quickly as we can. After all, most people want to eat lunch at a similar time. Saying all that, you didn't wait 40 minutes. We did indeed make a mistake in making the wrong toasted sandwich for you and rectified the mistake as soon as we found out. I delivered the correct sandwich myself and did say "Sorry about that". However you may not have heard as you did not look up, acknowledge my presence or say thank you as you were reading your mobile phone. Call me old fashioned but I think that's bad manners. Perhaps that sleight was on my mind when you came to pay and that's why I didn't ask you if everything was OK with your food or engage you in conversation. For that, I apologise. Finally, your comment about the standard of the food seems like an afterthought. I would encourage visitors to this website to look at the other reviews rather than this one as it is inaccurate. : end quote. |
On the note of funny responses to restaurant reviews...
http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-monterey..._by=rating_asc The owner is a friend of mine who has absolutely no shame when it comes to ridiculing reviews on Yelp. :D People who make fun of hipsters are usually even bigger hipsters. Just sayin. |
This one is fantastic....
http://www.tripadvisor.fr/ShowUserRe...e.html#REVIEWS .... If you can read French. Just be aware, it is not the kind of French one learns at school! |
This one is not from TA, but FT!
A review of a hotel that concluded "I wouldn't stay here again" listed three complaints; one of them was that it was located "in an area basically filled with airport hotels." The hotel in question? Hilton JFK Airport. Uh, was there an airport in the area too? |

I kind of like this one. I won't mention the hotel, but it is in a major tourist spot. Note that they stress they wanted to get a discount. As for me, I would just jump in the car and head somewhere else.
---------------- This hotel reminded my husband and I of a horror movie! The stains on the carpet were from one end of the room to the other. The bed mattresses had duck tape holding them together, the bed skirt was shredded, the pillow looked like they were peed on they were stained that bad, the heater in the room only blew out cold air, the wallpaper was coming off of the wall, and the smell almost made us sick. The staff acted like they didn't care when this was brought to their attention, and made no effort to give a discount for the very most horrific, discussting stay that we have ever had in a hotel. If you are thinking of staying here, DON'T!!!!!! RUN AWAY NOW!!!! STOP!!!!.... |

I also can't make some touch screens work. |
Not my own finding, but quite liked this...
http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR...-Brussels.html "The location leaves a lot to be desired, unless you happen to be a free-lance exotic dancer. Nestled in a district of sex shops and strip clubs, the area attracts the sort of people that you would cross the street to avoid." |
