Whatever Happened to the Bedbug Menace?

A year ago bedbugs were all I heard about. According to the news reports, whether you stayed in a $5 dump or the finest hotel, you were likely to wake up the next morning covered with bedbug bites. The little beasties were everywhere, and nothing could kill them.

Nowadays, I don't see too many references to them.
  • Was it just a manufactured story?
  • Are hotels using new powerful bedbug elimination methods?
  • Is the problem still here, just not talked about?

Bedbugs are definitely still out there, and still a big problem for travelers. (We had one brought into our office building a few months ago - yuck!) The media has simply moved on to other stories.
