Fare finding advice?
I am going to Louisville for the Kentucky Derby the first weekend in May. Flights to SDF are usually pricey but they are particularly so for Derby weekend already.
Does anyone have any brilliant suggestions of routes or ways to get the price down? I'm told we HAVE to fly to SDF so that friends who are picking us up don't have to drive hours away to get us (too bad - flights to BNA and CVG are pretty cheap, relatively).
Any other advice? I'd use AA miles but there is zero availability for nonstops from NYC.

Yes, that was included in my initial search on Kayak. $1200 is ridiculous. I was hoping for other ideas - alternative airports (I've tried HPN, the three NYC airports, SWF, Hartford), different routings...anything.

Fly into Cincinnati for under $400 and rent a car there for the weekend for $141 or so. Even if you just drive it the hour and a half or so to your friend park it and don't move it until you drive back to the airport you are still way ahead.
