connecting flight question

Hi
I need to go to sfo on personal visit.
I am getting deal on to fly to Seattle via sfo. Though if I try to book just to sfo the cost is 4 times the cost to Seattle.
Can I book to Seattle via sfo and do not continue to Seattle. Also while return will they allow me board flight in sfo whereas flight originates in seattle
Thanks

Welcome to flyertalk

It's called hidden city ticketing, and there are thousands of threads about it.

If you miss any segment, in your case the San Francisco to Seattle segment, they will cancel the rest of your ticket, so you will not be able to fly the return flight. If you skip a segment, it has to be the last segment of your trip.

The other threads will give the various things that can go wrong, just search for hidden city in the search function.

Simply No. Your ticket will be invalidated when you skip the SFO-SEA leg.

If you don't show for the SFO-SEA flight the airline is likely to cancel all other sectors on the itinerary. Then you would need to buy a new ticket to get home!

Sorry!

I know this seams a bit crazy but airfares are complex things. Not so much based on a single flight but on where the passenger wants to start and end the journey, plus what the market is like between those cities.

As this is not a trip report I shall move it over to the TravelBuzz! forum.
