Large-sized suitcase?

Hi There,
Flying LAX to JFK on United, and we usually carry-on, but we're checking a carseat so we thought we'd pay to check one bag to make getting on and off the plane with our 3-year-old less cumbersome. Here's my question: Will I be charged more for a standard, large-sized suitcase vs. the standard, smaller, rolling carry-on suitcase? Weight won't be a problem.
Thanks,
Sonia

Check United's baggage size restrictions. There is typically a max dimension as well as an accumulative max dimension (H+W+L).

Sonia - it is per piece as long as you dont exceed allowable dimensions, so a 'carry-on' and a 'checked bag' will cost the same fee if you choose to do this.

The checked baggage limit in the US is 70 pounds and 62 linear inches per the UA site
