Passport Stamp Question
Here's my itinerary for my trip next week: Flying DEN to FRA with a 5 hour layover at the Lufthansa first class terminal. Then I'm flying to LHR. Four days later I'm flying to BCN. My question is will I receive 3 passport stamps since I'm arriving at a Schengen country, then flying to a non-Schengen country, and then flying to a Schengen country?

If you're transiting at a Schengen country, you won't receive a stamp, as all inbound/outbound gates are located in a single area beyond immigration control. FRA is a bit odd in that terminals are separated by carriers & partners instead of destination, which means you might have to walk a bit but as long as you don't exit the non-Schengen area, you won't have to go through customs though you probably will have to go through security screening if your outbound gate is in another "pier."
In this case, you will receive a passport stamp on these occasions in this particular order according to your trip:
1. entry into UK
2. exit UK
3. entry into Schengen
4. exit Schengen

1. Entry stamp at FRA
2. Exit stamp at FRA
3. Entry stamp in LHR
4. Entry stamp in BCN
5. Exit stamp in your exit Schengen airport.
FRA usually stamps foreign non-residents, LHR always stamps, BCN always stamps (in my experience).

If you enter the Schengen zone and walk to the FCT, then you'll get:
1. Entry stamp at FRA
2. Exit stamp at FRA
3. Entry stamp in LHR
4. Entry stamp in BCN
5. Exit stamp in your exit Schengen airport.

I did not last time I transited FRA. Upon arrival from EWR (continuing to KBP) we were deposited directly into the terminal after showing our onward BP to an agent at the top of the jetbridge.

You can ask for a stamp at any entry point if you wish. They normally smile and say yes. I have a UK passport and don't need stamping into any EU state but sometimes I ask for one as a souvenir. Only at AMS did they say no.

Technically, EU countries are not supposed to stamp EU passports because (it is said) the stamp implies immigration permission to enter or leave the country and no permission is needed from an immigration officer. (I must say that I'm not quite why a passport stamp that that gives only the date, the point of entry or exit, and the mode of travel could be said inevitably to imply permission rather than simply facts...)
As you say, though, many passport control officers will oblige with a stamp if asked, particularly (though not only) in a child's passport.
