I love the DTW birds. The old TWA international terminal at JFK was notorious for the birds, including in the lounge.

SIN has butterflies, in the butterfly garden in T3. They also have a lot of koi (fish) in various ponds throughout the airport.

Went through DEN a few weeks ago - still plenty of birds (and poop) in the terminals...

I've taught too many grammar lessons lately. I read your post as being about elderly mice, not older threads. Misplaced modifiers make language so interesting. :D

I see birds in airports all the time. DEN and DTW were two that immediately came to mind but I see a random one every now and then all over the place.

I've also seen a large dinosaur at ORD. He's not very fast though... :)

Thankfully I've never seen a rat inside a terminal. Had a big Chicago street rat jump out of a trashcan and onto my foot as I was dropping off a National rental car at MDW the other day though. The guy next to me was throwing away a coffee cup, he opened the lid, and out flew the startled rat, both large AND fast. The large outdoor bin was 95% full at 6AM, which tells me that the National people didn't empty it at the end of the previous night. Hence, the attractive place for rats to hang out.

There have been reported spottings in IAD as well.

They were angling for an upgrade.

My gf saw a mouse at BWI. It was in a restaurant on the Southwest concourse. This was a few years ago.

It's not just people who need food. Now that they are not going to get any food on the plane, they have to visit the restaurant. :D

Came across quite a few rats and a lovely greeting party of mosquito swarms recently in the baggage claim at DAC. Not that I was surprised...

HAN has rats, big ones, especially in the early morning hours in the domestic departure area.

You tend to come across mostly elderly mice in airline lounges because they have seniority. You're more likely to find younger mice in the main terminal.
