the container/liquids were picked up in the terminal, i assume....
so put the bottle in your carry on....
or, just try it if its a fountain drink that you haven't finished..

If you're talking about taking it thru security it's supposed to be 3 oz or less and all of your 3 oz items are supposed to fit in a quart sized ziploc bag. If it's a 24 oz container they can make you surrender it at security regardless of how much is actually in it. If it's something you purchase after clearing security then you're fine.

Why are you only allowed eight ounces on board? Once you pass security, for the most part, you can bring as much as you want if you buy it past security.
