Adding extra passport pages in NYC

I have 4 pages left in the passport and have 7-9 countries to visit over next 4 months.

What is the quickest method to add extra passport pages if I live in NYC?

Thanks!

I added pages a few years ago and filled out a form, mailed it in, getting back a few weeks later.

You will also pay a fee, I believe about 60 dollars or so for extra pages, that was intstituted a few years ago. When you renew your passport there is a check box at the top of the form if you want a larger number of pages.

Is there a faster way than mailing the passport in? And is there an option to pick how many pages I want to add?

Make an appointment and go to the passport office. It may be more cost efficient to just renew the passport to the 52 page book than pay for the extra pages in the long run depending on how much time you have left on your passport.

It's $82 to add pages, it's $110 to renew.

Plus any expedite fees

Appointment at a passport agency in the US or an in-person appointment at US consulate/embassy facilities abroad. The latter tends to be faster.

A fixed-size supplemental page insert is added so rather than requesting a fixed number of pages, some request more than one supplemental insert at a time.

Renew with larger one. In the meantime, 4 pages should cover 7 - 9 countries. No? Politely ask the customs agents to put the visa stamp close to an existing one and you can get 6 - 8 visas on a single page.

I would use your current passport, order a new one and then switch to the new passport that will be good for 10 years.

My passport expires in 3.5 years. Given that some countries require it to be valid for at least next 6 months, I guess I would have to renew it in 3 years anyway. Am I weird to be attached to all those colourful stamps? Blank passport just feels so embarrassing.

I don't feel quite comfortable mailing the passport in, so I think my game plan is to wait till there are 2 weeks left to my nearest international trip and then schedule an appointment at the passport agency.

I kind of hate the fact that I just got reciprocity visa to Chile in Q1 this year.

Book an appointment while you're overseas. Much, much faster than the insane process that you have to follow while you're in the country.

This article is five years old. The information that the pages are free is not correct, so Id check out the other facts are up to date. Government sees frequent travelers as a source of revenue these days, so they may have tightened up the process.

I tried this a year ago. My trip was in 3 days. The nearest appointment was in 3 weeks.

I just went to the passport agency (Hudson St and Houston/King) and stood in the relatively long, slow-moving line. No one appears to check to see if you have an appointment.

Same thing the next day when I went back for pick-up: No one checking for an appointment, or if you to see if you're picking up, versus applying.

Why I'm not surprised... Thanks for sharing. I'll report my experiences.
