Baggage allowance for students...
HI...
I am a student traveling to Atlanta from India for the first time.. From Newark, i have to take United Airlines to Atlanta(Economy).
I would like to know whether United Airlines is offering any discount for students regarding the baggage allowance? Till Newark, Jet Airways(Economy) is providing 2 + 1(only for students) piece baggage allowance...

on the return, ua rules would apply.....
however, perhaps some others w/personal experience can chime in here...
edit to add.....after a search, it looks like both are in star alliance, so should be no problem w/checking bags thru.....but wait for more info....

francyjohn, assuming you have one ticket for the entire trip (all the way to ATL), United Airlines will not charge you for luggage. What will happen is that once you land in Newark, you will go through passport control, pick up your baggage, pass customs and then drop off your luggage at the United Airlines counter. Since the tags on your luggage will mention that your final destination is Atlanta, UA will not charge you.

you have 1 ticket?.....if so, the 1st carrier's rules should prevail & you could check the 3 thru to atl....assuming that jet & ua have an interline agreement...
on the return, ua rules would apply.....

There are no special rules for students.
Interline agreement does not necessarily trump individual airlines rules. Baggage has become an important source of revenue, some airlines say, that the rules that apply to the entire journey is the intersection of two sets of rules. In other words, most restrictive rules apply.
However, YMMV.
