destination to pair with bali

I originally wanted to book a trip to bora bora, but considering how much easier it is to get award tickets and cheaper hotels I decided to try Bali instead. I am wondering if there are any other good destinations I should and do while I am in the area ( coming from dfw ) for reference the only places I have been in the area are Manila and Hanoi .

One or 2 day stopover in HKG, SIN or elsewhere and stay rest of time in Indonesia. Java (borobodur) and Lombok are both very good. Would be a shame to miss it.

I assuming I'll use AA (have ~380K, but also have some DL, UA, & US (though not enough for 2 RT tickets, less than 150K in each)

Komodo dragons

I have enjoyed Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia - So if you want a city experience they would all be good choices. I took a side trip from Bali to see the komodo dragons - I thought it was well worth while. I did not use a tour, but booked flights and accommodation myself, this probably meant it took longer to get there and get back, but it was an adventure. Depends on what you like and how much time you have. The forums on trip advisor are full of people who had problems with tours booked over the internet however, so be careful. I haven't been to Bali in over 10 years, but once out of Kuta it is beautiful.
